JEFFERSON COUNTY, WA - There seems to be growing controversy over the unofficial Jefferson County, WA Facebook page which appears to be run by Clallam County resident Joe D'Amico and former PT Leader contributor Patrick Sullivan.
https://www.facebook.com/Jefferson-County-Washington-236159643133225/ With a plethora of low 1-star reviews, the Jefferson County, WA Facebook page appears to be more about promoting the agenda of Mr. D'Amico (his proposed gun range in Quilcene, his discontent for County Sheriff Dave Stanko, etc.) and less about promoting that of Jefferson County or its citizens. Recent and previous reviews on the page highlight just what the community thinks... This page is NOT an official page for Jefferson County, Washington. It was created by a man who is a disgrace to our county, Joe D'Amico. Joe doesn't even live in Jeffrson County. He and his friend Patrick Sullivan administer this page. Don't be fooled into thinking this page has anything to do with the county administration. “This page's byline is "Jefferson County Washington is manage [sic] by the citizens of Jefferson County Washington" but it is, in fact, managed by one particular resident and his business interests. This page is fraudulent, has no relationship to the government of Jefferson County, is not reflective of the views of the other residents of Jefferson County, and is a giant conflict of interest for Joe D'Amico and his private security company. He should turn the page over to Jefferson County.” “Don't spread slanted news & views. Don't claim to be an official mouthpiece for the county.” Not an official page. Whoever is running this should turn it over to the county officials Submit your favorite family recipes to the Tri-Area Times (using the contact form on the sidebar) to share your deliciousness with the entire community! CHIMACUM - Don’t let the word Vegan scare you away from trying this delicious carrot cake. The cake itself is moist and utterly delicious while the addition of the cashew/macadamia nut frosting is simply out of this world. Good bye cream cheese frosting, we won’t be needing you again!
A few words of advice, follow this recipe to a T and you will not be disappointed! Be sure to soak your nuts as directed and use a high powered mixer (I used a VitaMix) for best quality. Also, make sure your baking powder is fresh, preferable new, as there are no eggs in recipe and this is most useful for rising. Try buying your carrots from a local farm or produce stand such as Red Dog Farms or Chimacum Farm Stand for added flavor & finesse. PORT TOWNSEND - Many residents in the county, including those that have lived here their entire lives, are expressing a growing concern that the odor from the Port Townsend Paper Corporation is getting unbearably worse, possibly even toxic. Many residents are reporting that the odor is so strong that it causes intense physical reactions and physical ailments including asthma, nausea, and fatigue. At least one resident has moved because health effects had become too severe.
A group on Facebook named MillOdorous was created to collect reports and there are currently 186 members in the group at press time. Users are invited to share their odor reports, which should include: time, date, address (approximate), and rating from 1-10. Admins of the page are collecting reports and plotting them on a virtual map to send to local officials each month including the Department of Ecology, Port Townsend Paper Company, Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, Port Townsend City Council, Jefferson Healthcare Hospital Commissioner and Candidates, Jefferson County Public Health, Washington Department of Health, Mike Chapman WA State Rep., and Hannah Burn at the City of Port Townsend Special Projects. |
